1. Mission and Objectives
Founded in 1999, the KODISA Foundation (formerly the Korea Distribution Science Association) is a non-profit academic foundation established to advance knowledge in distribution science and related fields and to contribute to society through sustainable scholarly activities.
The Foundation operates with a public-interest mission to support academic research, education, and the dissemination of knowledge in the areas of business, management, distribution science, sustainability, and multidisciplinary studies. Rather than functioning as a professional association alone, KODISA serves as an institutional platform that develops and maintains academic infrastructure for researchers, educators, and practitioners.
To fulfill this mission, the KODISA Foundation supports academic journals, international conferences, and scholarly exchange programs. These initiatives provide researchers worldwide with opportunities to disseminate research findings, engage in academic dialogue, and contribute to evidence-based knowledge creation. The Foundation publishes peer-reviewed journals through KODISA Journals (indexed in ESCI and SCOPUS) and disseminates conference research through the ICBE Proceedings (indexed in CPCI-SSH).
Supported by a global academic community of more than 12,000 members across 35 countries, the Foundation facilitates international cooperation and cross-disciplinary research. KODISA’s activities are designed to strengthen academic ecosystems at both regional and global levels by linking research outcomes with educational, institutional, and societal needs.
Over time, the KODISA Foundation has grown into a leading academic foundation in Korea within the fields of economics, business, management, distribution science, and multidisciplinary research. Through networks spanning academia, industry, public institutions, and professional communities, the Foundation provides a stable and credible environment for scholarly communication, policy-relevant research, and the exchange of best practices.
Since 2010, KODISA has made long-term and strategic investments to ensure the sustainability and quality of its academic journals. As a result, the Foundation supports the publication of more than 500 peer-reviewed articles annually and the distribution of over 11,000 journal copies per year. Among the journals under its stewardship, the Journal of Distribution Science (JDS) has been indexed in SCOPUS (since 2016) and Web of Science (since 2024). In addition, the KODISA International Conference on Business and Economics (KODISA ICBE) serves as a core academic forum of the Foundation, publishing approximately 100 peer-reviewed papers annually through its proceedings. The ICBE Proceedings have been indexed in Clarivate Analytics CPCI-SSH, including ICBE 2015, 2016, and 2017.2. Social Responsibility
The KODISA Foundation recognizes social responsibility as an integral component of its identity as a non-profit academic foundation. The Foundation understands academic publishing and scholarly exchange as essential mechanisms for returning knowledge-based value to society.
KODISA’s approach to social responsibility is realized through the reinvestment of its academic activities into public-interest initiatives that support education, research integrity, and knowledge accessibility. Rather than prioritizing financial outcomes, the Foundation emphasizes long-term academic and societal impact.
Key areas of the Foundation’s social responsibility include:
Education and Scholarship Support
The Foundation supports academic conferences, workshops, scholarly research activities, academic publications, vocational education, and higher education in the fields of business, management, and distribution science, contributing to capacity building within academic communities.
Economic and Institutional Responsibility
KODISA considers the broader economic and institutional implications of its activities and seeks to enhance sustainable academic development at local, national, and global levels through responsible governance and transparent operations.
Environmental Responsibility
The Foundation acknowledges its responsibility toward environmental sustainability and strives to minimize negative environmental impacts associated with its operations, while promoting research related to sustainability and responsible development.
Ethics and Research Integrity
KODISA upholds rigorous standards of ethics and integrity by establishing clear principles and governance mechanisms related to research conduct, publication ethics, and organizational accountability.
Social Impact and Knowledge Accessibility
By supporting open academic dialogue and the dissemination of peer-reviewed research, the Foundation contributes to social development, evidence-based policymaking, and public understanding of critical economic and managerial issues.
Stakeholder Engagement
KODISA actively engages with scholars, institutions, reviewers, editors, and partners to ensure that its activities reflect the needs of academic communities and broader society.
