1. Mission and Objectives

Founded in 1999, KODISA Foundation, formerly known as the Korea Distribution Science Association, is a non-profit academic foundation established to advance scholarly knowledge and contribute to society through sustainable academic activities.

KODISA Foundation operates with a public-interest mission to support academic research, education, scholarly publishing, and the dissemination of knowledge across diverse academic fields, including business, management, economics, distribution science, sustainability, industry, technology, culture, Korean studies, wellbeing, applied psychology, foodservice, tourism, and related interdisciplinary areas.

Rather than functioning solely as a professional association, KODISA Foundation serves as an institutional academic platform that develops, supports, and maintains scholarly infrastructure for researchers, educators, reviewers, editors, practitioners, and academic communities.

To fulfill this mission, KODISA Foundation supports peer-reviewed academic journals, international conferences, research exchange programs, editorial activities, and scholarly communication initiatives. These activities provide researchers with opportunities to disseminate research findings, participate in academic dialogue, and contribute to evidence-based knowledge creation.

KODISA Foundation owns, manages, and publishes KODISA Journals, a group of peer-reviewed scholarly journals covering a broad range of academic disciplines. Some KODISA journals have been indexed in major domestic or international scholarly databases, depending on the status and scope of each individual journal.

The Foundation also supports academic conferences and proceedings, including the KODISA International Conference on Business and Economics, as part of its broader mission to promote scholarly exchange and interdisciplinary research. Selected past conference proceedings have been indexed in international conference citation databases, where applicable.

KODISA Foundation has developed a broad academic network involving scholars, editors, reviewers, institutions, and research communities in Korea and abroad. Through these networks, the Foundation promotes international cooperation, interdisciplinary research, and the responsible dissemination of scholarly knowledge.

Over time, KODISA Foundation has developed into a recognized academic foundation in Korea in the fields of economics, business, management, distribution science, and multidisciplinary research. Through its journal publishing, academic conferences, and research-support activities, the Foundation provides a stable environment for scholarly communication, policy-relevant research, and the exchange of academic and professional knowledge.

KODISA Foundation continues to make long-term investments in the sustainability, quality, transparency, and international visibility of its academic journals and scholarly activities. The Foundation seeks to strengthen academic ecosystems by linking research outcomes with educational, institutional, industrial, and societal needs.

2. Social Responsibility

KODISA Foundation recognizes social responsibility as an integral component of its identity as a non-profit academic foundation. The Foundation understands academic publishing, research support, and scholarly exchange as important mechanisms for returning knowledge-based value to society.

KODISA Foundation’s approach to social responsibility is realized through the reinvestment of its academic activities into public-interest initiatives that support education, research integrity, knowledge accessibility, and sustainable scholarly communication. Rather than prioritizing financial outcomes, the Foundation emphasizes long-term academic, educational, institutional, and societal impact.

Key areas of the Foundation’s social responsibility include the following.

2.1 Education and Scholarship Support

KODISA Foundation supports academic conferences, workshops, scholarly research activities, academic publications, vocational education, higher education, and related academic programs. These activities contribute to capacity building within academic communities and provide opportunities for researchers, educators, students, and practitioners to participate in scholarly exchange.

2.2 Academic Publishing and Knowledge Dissemination

KODISA Foundation supports the publication and dissemination of peer-reviewed research through KODISA Journals and related academic platforms. Through these activities, the Foundation promotes scholarly communication, academic visibility, and access to research findings in diverse fields.

The Foundation seeks to maintain transparent and fair editorial processes across KODISA Journals.

2.4 Economic and Institutional Responsibility

KODISA Foundation recognizes the broader economic and institutional implications of academic publishing and scholarly activities. The Foundation seeks to support sustainable academic development at local, national, and international levels through responsible governance, transparent operations, and long-term investment in academic infrastructure.

By supporting open academic dialogue and the dissemination of peer-reviewed research, KODISA Foundation contributes to social development, evidence-based policymaking, public understanding, and the practical application of scholarly knowledge.
